Black & Lizars Optometrist Carol Semple has been shortlisted for the Optometrist of the Year in the Scottish Health Awards.
With over 15 years’ experience, Carol was nominated for the award by Black & Lizars after winning its own Optometrist of the Year title. Based at the leading eye care provider’s Ayr practice, she performs eye examinations, contact lens work, specialist contact lens fitting, the diabetic retinal screening service, emergency presentations under the Ayrshire Eyecare scheme and post cataract surgery assessment.
In addition to her own patients she has also supervised and supported pre-registration students, passing her skills and ability on to the next generation of clinicians.
Black & Lizars Clinical Services Director, Morven Campbell, said: “Carol is one of those rare individuals who always looks for the positives, rarely complains, and makes those around her strive to attain her high standards of care. She is a true empath and I cannot imagine her in any other profession, she goes above and beyond to ensure the best result for her patients.
“She achieves excellence in patient care every day and that is reflected in the feedback we receive from them. We wish her the best of luck for the award!”
Run in conjunction with NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government, the awards recognise those that go that extra mile to improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland.
The awards ceremony will take place on 2 November 2017 at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.
