Contact Lenses have changed - Why don't you ?
Over the past few years the range of contact lenses has improved dramatically. Today's lenses are completely safe, easy to handle and so comfortable that you won't know you're wearing them.
Types of contact lenses
"Day and night" continuous wear contact lenses - comfort and normalisation
30 days of continuous contact lens wear is now possible with new products which offer the convenience of continuous - ie day and night - wear with clear vision and unbelievable comfort. Put them in and then forget about them for a month!
Daily wear contact lenses - comfort and convenience
A fresh new pair of contact lenses each morning, throw them away at night. No more cleaning solutions, no more hassle. Perfect for every day or occasional wear and now available in prescriptions for astigmatism, multifocals and tinted lenses.
Disposable contact lenses - comfort and value
Changing your lenses regularly means that deposits do not build up, your vision remains clear, your lenses remain comfortable and the risk of eye infection is reduced. Cleaning regimes are now much simpler and monthly disposable lenses are now available in all prescriptions.
Gas permeable contact lenses
For new patients these now represent a minority type of lens fit, as they are made of rigid materials which allow the eye to breathe. They are, however, still the first choice for people with complicated prescriptions or patients with certain types of astigmatism.
Specialist contact lenses
Our specialist contact lenses include toric, bifocal, tinted, custom toric and toric soft bifocal.
Tinted contact lenses
Our range of tinted lenses suits all prescriptions and eye colours. They are comfortable, affordable (now from just around £3 a pair) and have a dramatic yet natural effect.
What's Coming ?
30 day contact lenses will expand to be available in just about all prescriptions. They offer a real alternative to laser surgery.
Improvements in daily disposable lenses making them even more comfortable and easier to handle, as well as being available in tinted and multifocal forms.
New designs in multifocal and toric (lenses for astigmatism) mean more and more people can give up their glasses.
... and beyond
Exciting new developments in eye measuring systems make it theoretically possible to individually sculpt contact lenses or indeed the cornea of your eye using a laser. This may allow levels of vision never though possible - Superman watch out!
Lens materials that contain substances which allow the eye to be even more resistant to infection than wearing no lens at all may also be on the horizon.
Black & Lizars' close working relationships with the world's major contact lens suppliers - Johnson & Johnson, Bausch & Lomb and CibaVision - ensure that we are usually ahead of our competitors in being able to supply you with the latest products, and we will continue to keep you fully informed of the options available to you.
