Your Sight Test

We offer full and comprehensive free* NHS eye tests for any patient of any age.

It is important to get regular eye exams even if you don't think you have any eye problems.

We recommend eye examinations for everyone at 1 to 2 year intervals or as advised by your optometrist. You should ensure that you have your eyes examined regularly if:

  • You are over 40
  • You have a history of glaucoma in your family
  • You have diabetes

Being seen regularly can mean the early detection and treatment of conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts and age related macular degeneration (ARMD).

By getting regular sight tests, early detection and treatment of even the commonest problem can mean far fewer problems in the future

Not only can regular eye tests detect common eye problems, they can detect other conditions that affect the rest of the body. Conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol can all be discovered.

Black & Lizars offers a 30 minute eye exam uniquely tailored to your needs from hundreds of separate components.

A full eye test checks:

  • Any symptoms you may be experiencing
  • Your distance and near vision
  • The muscles attached to the outside of your eye
  • Your focusing ability
  • Your eye health
  • Your central and peripheral vision
  • The pressure in your eyes if required
  • Any prescription that may or may not need correction

At the end of your eye test the optometrist will fully discuss the results and give you appropriate advice. This may include the options for vision correction and information on maintaining the health of your eyes.

* Fees may apply, such as eye examinations performed at home visits.
