have their eyes examined?
NHS eye examinations are
funded by the NHS in Scotland. It is important that
everyone should have a regular eye examination every 2
years, or as advised by your optometrist.
In particular you should ensure
that you have your eyes examined regularly if:-
• You are over 40
• You have a history of glaucoma in your family
• You have diabetes
By having regular sight tests,
early detection and treatment of even the most common problem
can mean far fewer problems in the future.
Not only can regular eye tests
detect common eye problems, they can detect other conditions that
affect the rest of the body. Conditions such as high blood
pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol can all be discovered
during a routine eye examination.
